Yuzvendra Chahal created history in IPL
New Delhi. In the 8th match of the Indian Premier League 2026, the Punjab Kings team had to taste its first defeat. Even though the team lost to Rajasthan Royals in the match, leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal created history on Tuesday, 28 April. He became the first cricketer in the world to take 300 T20 wickets in one country. He achieved this historic feat against his old IPL team. At present no bowler is seen even close to this great record made by him.
Chahal took three wickets for 36 runs in four overs and bowled brilliantly. His economy rate in the second innings was better than only Harpreet Brar. All three of his wickets came at important moments. First, he broke the 54-run partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal by dismissing Dhruv Jurel. Then Jaiswal was sent to the pavilion for 51 runs and finally Rajasthan captain Riyan Parag was dismissed for 29 (16). However, the tremendous partnership of 77 runs between Donovan Ferreira and Shubham Dubey changed the course of the match and Punjab had to face defeat.
This performance of Chahal once again shows how he has maintained himself with his classical leg spin in the high-scoring era of IPL. He has said many times that it is not easy, but he is making full use of his experience. After Punjab’s win over Delhi Capitals last week, Chahal had said, “It is not easy to bowl in IPL, especially when you have an impact player. But the best thing is that even if we are giving 210 runs, our batsmen are able to achieve the target. We are trying our best.”
Most T20 wickets in a country
There is no one close to Yuzvendra Chahal in terms of taking the most wickets while playing in any one country in T20 cricket. While playing in India, he has taken a total of 300 wickets in 267 matches. The name of India’s Piyush Chawla comes at second place. He took 289 wickets after playing 265 matches. England’s bowler Danny Richard Briggs is in third place. This bowler has 288 wickets in his account in 242 matches.
