Cooked rice has more water content. Due to heat and moisture, bacteria grow rapidly and the quality of rice starts deteriorating. Many times this cannot be detected by seeing or smelling rice, but it may contain harmful bacteria. For this reason also, rice should not be kept outside for a long time after cooking.

Roti has less moisture than rice. Therefore it can usually remain safe for a little longer. However, this does not mean that bread does not spoil. If bread is kept in a hot and humid environment for a long time, it may become moldy or contain bacteria. Therefore, it is important to store bread properly.

Apart from cooked rice, milk and milk products, curd, cooked pulses and vegetables, cut fruits also have high moisture, hence they can spoil quickly in summer. Therefore it is not good to store them for a long time.

If the food starts giving off sour or strange smell or its color changes, tastes strange or mold appears on it, then do not eat it at all. Eating such food can cause problems like stomach ache, vomiting, diarrhea and food poisoning. Therefore, if you come to know about anything like this, do not ignore it, otherwise your health may deteriorate.

Do not keep cooked food at room temperature for more than 2 hours. After the leftover food cools down, immediately keep it in the refrigerator. Reheat food thoroughly before eating it. Always keep food in clean and covered utensils. Maintain the correct temperature of the refrigerator and do not store stale food for several days.
