How much electricity does a 9 watt LED bulb consume when lit for 24 hours? Know the complete details

In today's time, saving electricity is not only important for our budget, but has also become very important for the environment. For this reason, LED bulbs are now being used increasingly in place of traditional bulbs. In such a situation, by choosing the right bulb you can bring a big change in your electricity bill. LED bulbs consume 80 to 90% less electricity than old bulbs and also last longer. However, this question definitely comes in the mind of many people that if a 9 watt LED bulb is lit for 24 hours, how much will be the impact on the monthly bill? Come on, let us know.

How much electricity does an LED bulb consume in a day?

Nowadays, LED bulbs are used in most of the houses, because they provide more light with less power. Many people think that if an LED bulb keeps burning for 24 hours, how much electricity will it consume and how much will the bill be. In such a situation, suppose you have a 9 watt LED bulb installed in your house, then first of all convert watts into kilowatts, because the electricity bill comes in units (kWh).

That means 9 watts = 0.009 kilowatt (kW)

Now if this bulb runs for the whole day i.e. 24 hours then its electricity consumption will be 0.009 × 24 = 0.216 units (kWh). That means a 9 watt LED bulb consumes only 0.216 units of electricity in a day, which is considered very less. Talking about expenditure, suppose if the price of electricity in your area is Rs 8 per unit, then the expenditure for one day will be 0.216 × 8 = approximately Rs 1.73. This means that even on burning the bulb throughout the day, the expenditure comes to less than Rs 2.

How much will be the electricity bill in the whole month

Using a 9 watt LED bulb for the whole day results in an electricity bill of approximately Rs 1.73. If this bulb burns 24 hours a day, its expenses will be recouped in 30 days. 1.73 × 30 = approximately Rs 52 will be. This example proves that even if the LED bulb keeps burning continuously in your house for the whole month, a 9 watt LED bulb generates an electricity bill of only around Rs 50 to 55.
