New Delhi. Young explosive opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who is making waves in the Indian Premier League, has created havoc in the world of cricket in the last one year. While playing for the Under 19 team, he played a memorable innings and led the team to victory. In the World Cup final, Vaibhav played an innings of 175 runs and won the trophy for India against England. At the age of just 15, this batsman has made everyone his fan. The selectors can reward Vaibhav, who has amazing talent, for this performance. If reports are to be believed, he is soon going to get a chance to play for Team India.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi is likely to be selected in the T20 team for India’s tour of Ireland to be held in June this year. He has a chance to become the youngest player to represent the country. The Indian Express has learned that the selectors may give the 15-year-old player a big chance in the short series to be held just before the white-ball tour of England. An Indian Cricket Board source confirmed, “He is a contender for the Ireland tour and the selectors have shortlisted his name along with several other players.”

This left-handed batsman had thrashed some of the best bowlers in the world last season. His performance continues this year also. This season, he has scored 78 runs in 26 balls against Royal Challengers Bangalore, 52 runs in 17 balls against Chennai Super Kings and 39 runs in 14 balls against Mumbai Indians. He doesn’t seem to be afraid of big names and hit Jasprit Bumrah for a six on the first ball.

The selectors are in no mood to wait to give the young player a chance in Team India, but will probably give him a chance against slightly weaker opposition. If Suryavanshi’s stellar performance continues, The Indian Express has learned that the selection committee may pick him for the upcoming tour of Ireland as well as the Zimbabwe tour later this year. This young player has also received support from a top official of the board.

IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal wrote on Twitter, “Vaibhav Suryavanshi has shown excellent batting in this IPL season. Considering his performance, this talented player should get a chance to debut for Team India at the youngest age. It is rare to get a chance to select such a talented and young player. Certainly, his name should be recorded as India’s youngest debutant.”

Sachin Tendulkar’s record may be broken

Sachin Tendulkar is the youngest male cricketer to play for India. He made his Test debut against Pakistan in Karachi in 1989 at the age of 16 years and 205 days. Shefali Verma is the youngest cricketer to play for India at the age of 15 years 7 months 27 days. If Suryavanshi plays on Ireland tour, he will break Shefali’s record. Both T20 matches will be played on 26 and 28 June.
