WI vs PAK, 1st Test Day-1: Kavem Hodge spoiled the line-length of Pakistani bowlers, explosive start for West Indies

Trinidad: With the help of Kavem Hodge’s unbeaten inning of 83 runs, West Indies scored 194 runs for three wickets on the rain-affected opening day of the first Test cricket match against Pakistan. Due to rain and bad light, only 67 overs could be bowled on the first day. Only 14.1 overs were bowled in the first session.

Hodge batted in all three sessions after West Indies won the toss and decided to bat first. He came to the crease in the ninth over when Mohammad Abbas dismissed Brandon King (12). When the players returned after lunch, the pitch started helping the bowlers due to rain but Hodge remained firm.

Pakistani bowlers had to struggle for wickets

Meanwhile, West Indies lost the wickets of opener Tegnarayan Chanderpaul (21) and Amir Ganju (21). At the end of the day’s play, Shai Hope was playing with Hodge on 39 runs. Both of them have so far added 88 runs for the fourth wicket.

For Pakistan, Abbas has taken two wickets for 44 runs. Pakistan’s left-arm spinner Usman Ali made his debut in Test cricket at the age of 33. West Indies players and match officials wore black armbands in memory of legendary all-rounder Garfield Sobers, who passed away recently at the age of 89.

Babar Azam is captaining for Pakistan
