Whatsapp Passkey Feature: Whatsapp has brought a new security feature for its users. Passkey is a new login method in which users do not need to enter OTP again and again. Whenever you login, WhatsApp verifies your identity with your phone’s fingerprint, face unlock or PIN. That means the security feature of your device becomes your WhatsApp login identity. With this, the login process has now become much smoother and faster.
What is the difference between OTP and Passkey?
OTP is a code which is sent to your phone through SMS. The user manually enters this in his app, due to which his WhatsApp login is done, this code is valid only for some time, after that it expires. On the other hand, there is no code in Passkey, you just use your phone’s Password, Fingerprint or Face unlock and get directly logged in to your WhatsApp, this process is easier than OTP.
Who is better in terms of security?
In terms of security, Passkey is considered more secure than OTP. OTP can sometimes be stolen by hackers through methods like phishing or SIM swap, but Passkey uses your biometric details (like fingerprint or face unlock), which are very difficult to copy.
