In the 34th match of IPL 2026, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Gujarat Titans by 5 wickets. RCB easily chased 206 runs at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. This was RCB’s fourth win at home. After the match, Virat Kohli gave two reasons for RCB’s victory, which all other teams should know. King Kohli’s bat also roared against Gujarat. Virat played a brilliant inning of 81 runs in 44 balls. Virat was chosen ‘Player of the Match’ for his strong performance. Apart from Virat, Devdutt Padikkal scored 55 runs in 27 balls. He scored fifty in just 20 balls.
After the win, Virat Kohli said, “We had to assess the situation early on. We were just away from a partnership. We wanted to try and analyse. Padikkal has done this twice this season. To be honest, it is very rare. Padikkal’s innings was very important. I was trying to stay in the game. The partnership between me and Padikkal proved to be important.”
Praising the performance of RCB bowlers, Kohli said, “Our bowlers did a fantastic job. The spinners were not able to get the grip. Once you understand the conditions, you back yourself. The message was very clear. We had to go for it. We had no doubts. Body language comes from confidence. We have batsmen who can trouble the bowlers. We have Krunal Pandya’s understanding of cricket. You can trust him.” We have a lot of confidence in the bowling, it’s a great place to play and it’s been a great start.
Batting first, Gujarat Titans scored 205 runs on the scoreboard after losing 3 wickets in 20 overs. Sai Sudarshan batted brilliantly and played a strong inning of 100 runs in 58 balls. However, RCB easily achieved the target of 206 runs in 18.5 overs by losing only 5 wickets.
