The score was not worthy of victory… Falling wickets spoiled the game, Rishabh Pant cursed himself for the defeat.

New Delhi. Rishabh Pant is disappointed after the seven-wicket defeat against Gujarat Titans. Lucknow Super Giants captain Pant says that his team did not score enough which their bowlers could defend later. After the brilliant performance of the bowlers led by fast bowler Prasidh Krishna and the amazing batting of captain Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler, Gujarat Titans defeated Lucknow Super Giants by seven wickets. This is Lucknow’s second defeat in four matches.

After the defeat against Gujarat Titans, Rishabh Pant admitted that his team could not score enough runs on the board. Praising the bowling of the opposition team, he said that a score of 170 to 180 runs on such a pitch would have been a challenging and good score. However, due to continuous falling of wickets, the pressure on the team increased and they could not reach that target. Pant stressed that there were opportunities for a comeback during the game, but the team completely failed to take advantage of those opportunities.

After restricting the Super Giants to 164 runs for eight wickets, the Titans easily achieved the target by scoring 165 runs for three wickets in 18.4 overs and registered their second win in four matches. Apart from scoring 56 runs in 40 balls with the help of six fours and one six, he also made a partnership of 45 runs in 31 balls with Sai Sudarshan (15) for the first wicket and 84 runs in 58 balls with Jos Buttler (60) for the second wicket. Butler hit 11 fours in his 37-ball innings. Digvesh Rathi, Mohammed Shami and Prince Yadav got one success each for Super Giants.

Talking about the batting order, Pant expressed full confidence in his team and said that the tournament is still in the initial stages, so there is no need to put extra pressure on the players. He especially defended the senior players, saying that they know how to deal with difficult situations. Even though on some occasions the performance may not have been as per expectations, there is complete mutual trust and positivity in the team camp. He is confident that the team will bounce back strongly soon.

Aiden Markram made the maximum contribution of 30 runs for the Super Giants. Apart from him, no other batsman could reach the 20-run mark. Captain Rishabh Pant (18), Nicholas Pooran (19), Abdul Samad (18) and Mukul Chaudhary (18) lost their wickets after spending time at the crease.
