Dennis Amiss was the first player in cricket history to wear a helmet. This incident is from Packer’s World Series. Dennis Amis told, “There were 16 bowlers in Packer’s World Series who could bowl at a speed of 90 miles per hour. I was in a shop and talking to Tony Gregg.”
He further said, “While talking with Tony Greg, I saw a motorcycle there. The motorcycle also had a helmet. Then an idea came to my mind that why not adapt this motorcycle helmet to cricket. Later Tony Greg told me that Packer had approved my idea and from there the helmet trend started.”
