New Delhi. In the very first match of the Indian Premier League 2026, Royal Challengers Bangalore exploded against Sunrisers Hyderabad by achieving the target of 202 runs in just 94 balls. The team, which came as defending champion, achieved this victory on the basis of the stormy innings of chase master Virat Kohli. Thanks to Devdutt Padikkal's brilliant inning of 61 runs in 26 balls and Virat Kohli's unbeaten 69-run master class half-century, Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by six wickets in the season opening match of IPL 2026.

Padikkal and Kohli added 101 runs in just 45 balls for the second wicket, due to which RCB achieved the target of 202 runs in just 15.4 overs. The host team started their title defense in great style by scoring 203/4 runs. After the early dismissal of Phil Salt, Kohli and Padikkal showed excellent batting to the spectators present at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. The batting style of both was completely different. Kohli made the match one-sided by hitting 6, 4, 4, 4 in one over of Harshal Patel.
