RR vs LSG: Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s explosive innings of 93 runs… and Jurel’s wisdom, Rajasthan’s ‘Royals’ win over Lucknow

New Delhi. Rajasthan Royals defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 7 wickets in the 64th match of IPL 2026 played at Sawai Mansingh Stadium. Batting first, Lucknow scored a huge score of 220 runs after losing 5 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. The Rajasthan team, which set out to chase this big target, started very aggressively. Captain Yashasvi Jaiswal, leading from the front, scored 43 runs in just 23 balls with the help of 8 fours and 1 six and gave a stormy start to the team. Even after his dismissal, the pace of runs did not stop and Rajasthan won the match by scoring 225 runs losing 3 wickets in just 19.1 overs. With this win, Rajasthan has gained 14 points and reached fourth position in the points table while Punjab slipped to fifth position with 13 points.

The real hero of this spectacular victory of Rajasthan Royals was Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who rained sixes all around the field. Facing just 38 balls, Vaibhav played an explosive inning of 93 runs, hitting 7 fours and 10 skyscraper sixes, although he missed his century and was caught out by Abdul Samad. He was well supported by wicketkeeper batsman Dhruv Jurel, who batted intelligently and scored an unbeaten half-century of 53 runs in 38 balls with the help of 3 fours and 3 sixes. Apart from this, Luan-Dre Pretorius was run out after scoring 7 runs, while Donovan Ferreira returned unbeaten after scoring 16 runs along with Dhruv Jurel. For Lucknow, Akash Singh and Mohsin Khan got 1 wicket each, but they completely failed to stop the Rajasthan batsmen from scoring runs.

Earlier, thanks to Mitchell Marsh’s explosive innings of 96 runs, Lucknow Super Giants scored a huge score of 220 runs for 5 wickets against Rajasthan Royals. After being invited to bat first, Josh Inglis gave a fast start to LSG. He showed aggressive attitude in the initial overs and played a stormy innings of 60 runs in 29 balls. After this, Marsh, popularly known as ‘Bison’, demonstrated his powerful batting and hit 11 fours and five sixes. This was the third time in the current season that he scored more than 90.

Marsh’s performance in this disappointing season for LSG has proved to be the biggest positive thing for the team. He has scored 563 runs in 13 matches. Without any ifs and buts, it is necessary for Rajasthan to win the last two matches to maintain the playoff hopes, but the team’s bowling did not live up to the expectations. Questions were also raised on acting captain Yashasvi Jaiswal’s decision to bowl first, as the pitch looked favorable for the batsmen.

Rajasthan bowlers once again failed to make an impact in the powerplay. English and Marsh added 109 runs in 50 balls for the first wicket. While English hit seven fours and three sixes, Marsh especially entertained the audience with his pull shots. Even after English was out on the ball of Yash Raj Punja, Marsh did not let the run rate slow down. The most brilliant shot of his innings was a six hit over extra cover, in which an excellent combination of power and timing was seen. Nicholas Pooran once again could not leave much impact and was out after scoring 16 runs in 11 balls, but captain Rishabh Pant scored 35 runs in 23 balls.

However, lack of confidence was clearly visible in Pant’s batting. The effect of being stripped of the vice-captaincy of the Indian Test team and being dropped from the ODI team was visible on his game. For Rajasthan Royals, Sushant Mishra, Brijesh Sharma and Sandeep Sharma kept bowling on wrong lengths, of which Marsh took full advantage.
