Apple AirPods: Apple has released a major health update for its premium earbuds in India. Now AirPods will not only be a means of listening to songs, but will also keep an eye on the hearing health of the users. The company has launched a new Hearing Test feature in India with the help of which people will be able to check their hearing ability in just a few minutes while sitting at home.
Hearing test will be done at home in just 5 minutes
According to Apple, this new feature will work in AirPods Pro 2 and beyond models. For this, the device must have the latest firmware and it will have to be connected to an iPhone or iPad with iOS 18 or iPadOS 18.
The company says that the entire test is completed in about five minutes and there will be no need to go to any clinic or hospital for this. The user can do this test comfortably while sitting at home.
How will this new feature work?
The user will have to wear AirPods during the Hearing Test. After this, different audio tones will be heard in both the ears. Whenever a sound is heard, the user will have to respond to it.
After completion of the test, the system will generate a detailed report which will include the Hearing Level of both the ears, the status of Hearing Loss, necessary suggestions and Audiogram Chart. This chart shows the ability to hear at different frequencies. All this data will be saved securely in the Apple Health App. If needed, the user can also share it with a doctor or health expert.
Hearing problem will be caught in the early stages itself.
Apple believes that sometimes people do not realize for a long time that their hearing ability is gradually weakening. In such a situation, this feature will help in identifying the problem in the initial stage itself.
The Vice President of the company’s Health and Fitness team said that the purpose of technology should be to give people better control over their health. This feature has been prepared under this thinking.
AirPods will also work as a hearing aid
After this update, AirPods Pro will also be able to work as a hearing assistance device for people with mild or moderate hearing loss. Based on the personal hearing profile created during the test, AirPods will help in hearing surrounding sounds and conversations more clearly and loudly in real time. This can make it easier to understand everyday conversations.
Feature prepared after many years of research
According to Apple, the company has been working on Hearing Health technology for the last several years. Initially, there were difficulties in achieving correct results through Connected Headphones because the surrounding noise and hardware quality were a big challenge. However, now with the help of AirPods’ better hardware and Noise Isolation technology, the company is claiming to give more reliable and results closer to clinical level.
Apple is now giving big focus on health technology
This update shows that Apple now wants to present its devices not just as electronic gadgets but as health companions. Apart from hearing features, the company has also launched Sleep Apnoea Notification feature for Apple Watch users in India. This feature will help in identifying signs of problems like stopping breathing while sleeping.
The sensors and accelerometer present in Apple Watch will try to detect possible problems by tracking body movements and breathing patterns while sleeping.
