Spam Calls: Despite all the efforts of the government and telecom companies, spam calls are not decreasing. If we look at the figures, 128 percent more complaints of spam calls have been registered in 2025 compared to 2023. In 2023, 13.62 lakh complaints of spam calls were registered. This number will increase to 19.38 lakh in 2024 and will cross 31 lakh in 2025. On the other hand, efforts to stop these calls have also intensified, but customers do not seem to be getting any relief. People are still receiving spam calls several times a day.
What is happening to stop spam calls?
With the advancement of technology, companies are now making robotic calls. Apart from this, now such calls are being used for cyber crime. To stop this, the government and telecom companies are blocking suspicious numbers. According to reports, more than 2.27 lakh mobiles have been blocked so far. Apart from this, action has also been taken against many accounts sending such messages. Apart from this, the rules have also been made strict. For the last one year, those numbers which were being repeatedly used for spam calls are being blocked.
Technology is also being used
Now technology is also being used to protect mobile users from spam calls. Now an AI system has been deployed to identify spam calls, which identifies whether a number has been used for spam calls. If this number seems suspicious then the call is stopped before it reaches the mobile user. If the system identifies any suspicious number then its KYC check is done. If it is still found involved in spam activities then that number can also be blocked. According to a report, currently the telecom system is blocking 7.5 crore spam calls and messages every day.
