Australian player Cooper Connolly, who is part of Punjab Kings, scored a historic century on Wednesday. Chasing the big target of 236 runs, Connolly played a sensible innings, however he could not get support from other batsmen and Punjab could reach only 202 runs. This was Punjab’s third consecutive defeat. However, Connolly made a big record in his name with this century.
Cooper Connolly has become the youngest foreign batsman to score a century in IPL. Before him this record was in the name of Quinton de Kock. The South African batsman scored more centuries while playing for Delhi Capitals against Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2016, when he was 23 years and 122 days old. He became the youngest foreign batsman to score a century in the IPL, this record was in his name till Wednesday (for about 10 years), which was broken by Connolly.
Cooper Connolly scored a century at the age of 22 years and 257 days. Connolly scored unbeaten 107 runs in 59 balls with the help of 8 sixes and 7 fours. Apart from him, no batsman from Punjab played any special innings. The opening pair of Priyansh Arya (1) and Prabhsimran Singh (3) returned to the pavilion in the second over itself. Captain Shreyas Iyer also added only 5 runs.

Marcus Stoinis scored 28 runs in 14 balls, Suyash Shedge scored 25 runs in 17 balls. Shashank Singh also scored only 4 runs and when he was out, Punjab Kings had almost lost the match, however, at the other end, Cooper Connolly continued batting well and completed his century.
