A shameful record of IPL has been registered in the name of Punjab Kings captained by Shreyas Iyer. Punjab has become the team to lose the most consecutive matches in one stadium. Sunrisers Hyderabad has broken a big record of Chennai Super Kings with the victory.
In the 49th match of IPL 2026 held on Wednesday, Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins received the Player of the Match award, who took 2 wickets for 34 runs in 4 overs. Cooper Connolly scored a century for Punjab, he fought till the end but could not get support from other batsmen and Punjab remained 34 runs away from the target. Earlier, with the help of half-centuries from Heinrich Klaasen and Ishan Kishan, SRH had scored 235 runs.
Shameful record recorded in the name of PBKS
Punjab Kings has become the team that has lost the most matches against any one team on one ground. In this record list, Sunrisers Hyderabad left Chennai Super Kings behind. PBKS has lost for the 9th consecutive time against Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. This series of defeats has been going on since 2015.

SRH broke CSK’s record
In IPL history, the record of most consecutive wins against a single team on a single ground was earlier in the name of Chennai Super Kings, but now it is in the name of Sunrisers Hyderabad. SRH has won 9 consecutive matches against Punjab Kings in Hyderabad since 2015. Chennai had defeated RCB 8 consecutive times in Chennai between 2010 and 2014.

With this victory, Sunrisers Hyderabad has come to first position in the points table. Punjab Kings has slipped to second place with 13 points. Today there is a match between RCB and LSG, if Lucknow loses then it will officially be out of the playoff race. By winning, Bengaluru will move to first place in the points table, as their net run rate (+1.420) is better than SRH (+0.737).
