CERT-In Warning for iPhone Users: India's cyber security agency Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has issued a serious warning for those using Apple devices. According to the agency, such flaws have been found in many devices including Apple iPhone, Apple iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, taking advantage of which hackers can break into your system. It is clearly stated in this advisory that through these vulnerabilities, sensitive data of users can be at risk.
what did the government say
CERT-In, which works under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, has placed these flaws in the high severity category. The agency says that there are many such vulnerabilities in Apple's software and operating system with the help of which any attacker can run the code of his choice in the system, cross the security layer and gain more control over the device. Apart from this, there is also a danger of data leakage and service interruption (DoS attack), due to which not only common users but also companies can be affected.
Why are these flaws dangerous
According to CERT-In, these problems have come to light due to vulnerabilities present in different parts of Apple's software system. Because of these, hackers can change the nature of the system or bypass the already existing security features. The mention of several CVEs (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures) indicates that attacks can be carried out from multiple locations simultaneously, making it easier to run remote code, gain admin access, or access personal information.
Which devices are affected?
This threat has been seen more on many Apple devices and older software versions. Especially those devices which are running on old iOS, iPadOS, macOS, Safari, watchOS or other system versions are more at risk. This includes iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch as well as other Apple ecosystem products.
what should you do
CERT-In has advised users to update all their Apple devices to the latest software update without delay as these vulnerabilities are fixed in these updates. Also, avoid clicking on unknown links, do not download suspicious files and always install apps from official platforms only.
It is also very important to keep a backup of your important data so that the loss can be reduced in any situation. The agency has clearly warned that if these flaws are not rectified in time, it can lead to serious threats like data theft, malware attack, system crash or unauthorized access. Especially those users who are using old software need to be alert immediately.
