IND vs ENG Women’s Test: Indian women’s team ready to write history at Lord’s, waiting for just 4 wickets on the fourth day

New Delhi. The Indian women’s cricket team is just 4 wickets away from victory in the ongoing historic test match at Lord’s. England, who set out to chase a huge target of 457 runs to win on Sunday, have scored only 130 runs after losing 6 wickets by the end of the third day. At present, England is 327 runs away from victory, while they have only 4 wickets left. After losing the toss, the Indian team came to bat and scored 285 runs in the first innings.

India had lost 2 wickets till the score of 37, after which Smriti Mandhana strengthened the team by making a partnership of 64 runs with Jemimah Rodriguez and 89 runs for the fourth wicket with captain Harmanpreet Kaur. Mandhana was out after scoring 83 runs with 12 boundaries, while captain Kaur scored 58 runs. Apart from these, Deepti Sharma contributed 57 runs to the team’s account. Sophie Ecclestone took maximum 3 wickets from the host camp. In response, the English team was out for only 170 runs in its first innings.

England had lost 4 wickets till the score was just 47. After this, captain Nate Sciver-Brunt tried to take control of the team by making a partnership of 84 runs for the fifth wicket with Amy Jones. Brunt returned to the pavilion after scoring 44 runs with 5 boundaries, while Jones scored 52 runs with 6 fours. For India, Kranti Gaur took the maximum of 5 wickets for 37 runs.

Yastika’s historical century
India had a lead of 115 runs on the basis of first innings. The visiting team declared its second innings at a score of 341/7 and gave England a target of 457 runs to win. Mandhana along with Shefali Verma (33) scored 88 runs for the first wicket. After this, he made a partnership of 73 runs with Yastika Bhatia for the second wicket. Mandhana was out after scoring 70 runs with 10 boundaries, while Yastika Bhatia scored 113 runs with 14 fours. Yastika became the first woman player to score a Test century at Lord’s. Richa Ghosh scored unbeaten 50 runs in 52 balls. This innings included 8 fours. Sophie Ecclestone took maximum 5 wickets for England.

Bowlers spoiled the condition of England
Chasing the huge target, the host team could score only 130 runs after losing 6 wickets in 40 overs by the end of the third day. This team got an initial blow in the form of Tammy Beaumont (0) for 2 runs. After this the team lost its 5 wickets till the score of 59. However, from here Maddy Villiers along with Amy Jones added 67 runs for the sixth wicket, extending India’s wait for victory to the fourth day. Villiers was out after scoring 26 runs with 3 fours, while Jones is unbeaten after scoring 52 runs with 6 fours. In this innings, Sayli Satghare, Kranti Gaur and Sneh Rana have taken 2-2 wickets for India. For the first time, a women’s test match is being played at Lord’s, by winning which Team India would like to create history.
