Riyan Parag Statement: After the defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag believes that the team did a good job in bowling and batting, but dropping catches was costly. He said that if you give a ‘second chance’ to dangerous batsmen like Abhishek Sharma, they will snatch the match. Ryan also said that the team will focus most on improving its fielding in the practice session before the next match.

What did Riyan Parag say after the defeat?
New Delhi. In the 36th match of IPL 2026, Rajasthan Royals had to face defeat by 5 wickets against Sunrisers Hyderabad. After the third defeat of this season, Rajasthan Royals captain Ryan Parag admitted that dropping catches in the match was very costly for the team. SRH achieved the target of 229 runs set by RR in 18.3 overs by losing 5 wickets at the Sawai Mansingh Cricket Stadium in Jaipur. This is the fifth win of Sunrisers Hyderabad this season. What did Riyan Parag say on the team’s defeat at home? Let us tell you…
Ryan said, ‘Skill wise we did very well. However, we dropped catches, which cost us dearly. You cannot drop catches of a brilliant player like Abhishek. This will be worth watching. It’s a part of the game. We have to be clinical and fielding plays a big role. We will come back mentally refreshed in the next match.
Riyan Parag admitted that dropping the catch was heavy on the team.
He further said, ‘To be honest, he bowled well in the 18th and 19th overs and bowled excellent yorkers. We wanted to score 10-15 more runs. Both of them were left-handed batsmen (Ishan and Abhishek) and I felt that me and Ferreira had a better chance of taking wickets, the wicket was not conducive to spin bowlers. Actually, things did not go according to plan, but we will do the same next time.
What did you say about batting?
When Riyan Parag was asked whether he was happy with the score of 228 runs? On this he said, ‘Look, I think we scored 10-15 runs less. To be honest, the opposition team bowled very well in the 18th and 19th overs. He bowled excellent yorkers, due to which we could not do much, but if everything had gone well, we would have liked to score 15 more runs.
Regarding the next match against Punjab Kings, the Rajasthan captain said, ‘Every day there is a different ground and different type of match, so our strategy also keeps changing. Right now we don’t know how the Chandigarh pitch will be. It is true that Punjab achieved a big target in Delhi, but Chandigarh is a new ground, the pitch and soil there will be different. Hopefully such a big score will not be made there. We would like to restrict them to a low score, but right now we need some time so that we can rest, think about this match and then move forward.
Ishaan-Abhishek’s innings was filled with Vaibhav’s century
Talking about the match, batting first, Rajasthan Royals scored 228 runs on the scoreboard after losing 6 wickets in 20 overs.
