Chennai captain Ruturaj praised young Karthik highly.

New Delhi. Chennai Super Kings defeated their arch-rivals Mumbai Indians by 8 wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Saturday. This was the second defeat of Hardik Pandya’s team against the team captained by Ruturaj in the Indian Premier League this season. CSK restricted Mumbai to 159 runs. Anshul Kamboj took three wickets and Noor Ahmed took two wickets. After this, captain and young player Karthik Sharma achieved the target with 11 balls remaining by scoring a half-century.

CSK’s innings did not start well and Sanju Samson was dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah on 11 runs. Urvil Patel gave a fast start to the team by scoring 24 runs in 12 balls, but Allah Ghazanfar bowled him out. After this, Karthik Sharma joined Gaikwad and both of them handled the innings and took CSK beyond 100 after the halfway mark. Gaikwad scored his second consecutive half-century. Whereas Karthik wrote the story of the team’s victory by scoring his first fifty in the IPL.

Captain Ruturaj said after the match, “We started very well, they caught the momentum in the first few overs, but after that we made a comeback. Kamboj is a player who keeps things simple, sticks to the process. His mind thinks like a batsman. Noor has also made some changes and has performed very well.”

Talking about Karthik’s match-winning innings, he said, “He is a six-hitting player, but he also has another kind of game. He plays the balls selectively. It is a very good sign for us, as Mr. Cricket (CSK batting coach Mike Hussey) has said, if he gets into the rhythm, it can be very beneficial for us,” Gaikwad said while praising the youngster.
