How will the new feature work?
After this feature becomes available, as soon as two devices come close, the sharing process will start with the help of NFC (Near Field Communication). However, this feature will not share files via NFC. Its speed is slow. For this reason, file sharing will happen only through Bluetooth or WiFi Direct. Its advantage will be that the user will not have to follow extra steps. The user just needs to tap and the next moment the file will be shared.
Inspiration has been taken from Apple's AirDrop
Google has taken its inspiration from Apple's AirDrop feature. Apple is already offering AirDrop option in iPhone, which allows fast file sharing by bringing two iPhones together. Samsung has also started providing features like AirDrop in its Galaxy series in South Korea. It is being told that this new feature will be available for all Android phones. This feature will work in all phones supporting Android 17 upgrade.
