6G: Every decade the telecom world brings a new G technology. 5G came in 2019 and now eyes are on the next generation i.e. 6G. What is 6G and when will it come?
6G means sixth generation wireless network which can be launched around 2030. It will not be limited to just providing fast internet but aims to create a world where the digital and real worlds are completely interconnected. While 5G focuses on connecting devices, the purpose of 6G is to provide intelligent connectivity, meaning the network will understand, learn and take decisions on its own.
What will be the biggest feature of 6G?
6G is often being called an AI-negative network. This means that Artificial Intelligence will be included in it from the beginning. How big a change in speed and performance?
The speed of 6G can be up to about 1 Tbps (terabit per second) which is 50 to 100 times more than 5G. This means that even huge data will be downloaded in the blink of an eye. Latency i.e. response time will also be very low, less than 0.1 millisecond. This will make real-time work like remote surgery, automated factories and operation of driverless vehicles more accurate.

After the arrival of 6G, the use of technology can change completely. You’ll be able to make real-time hologram calls, virtual meetings will feel more like the real thing, and in healthcare, doctors will be able to perform surgeries remotely.
