New Delhi: Gujarat Titans defeated Delhi Capitals by 1 run in a thrilling match that lasted till the last ball. Delhi Capitals was in control till the last ball of the match, but due to a decision or rather brain fade by David Miller, it lost. Batting first at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Gujarat team had given a target of 211 runs to Delhi.

Delhi gave a tough fight to Gujarat due to the strong batting of KL Rahul and only two runs were needed from the last two balls. But a big mistake by David Miller changed the course of the match and he had to face a close defeat.

The match could have gone to super over

The South African player refused to take a single on the second last ball of Prasidh Krishna and then could not hit a shot on the last ball, due to which the team lost. Had David Miller taken a single, Delhi would have equaled Gujarat’s score of 210 runs, but Miller did not do so.

Miller thought that he would win the match by playing big shots, Prasidh Krishna completely tied Miller on the last ball. In such a situation, Kuldeep somehow scored a run with Miller, but Joe Butler ran him out from behind the wicket, giving Gujarat victory by just 1 run.

Gujarat’s batting was strong in the match

Before this, the batting of Gujarat Titans was strong. Shubman Gill played a captaincy inning of 70 runs in 45 balls, Jos Buttler scored 52 runs in 27 balls and Washington Sundar scored 55 runs at a fast pace, taking Gujarat’s score to 210 runs at the loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs.

Mukesh Kumar took maximum 2 wickets in bowling for Delhi, but he was very expensive. He gave away 55 runs for 2 wickets. Apart from this, Lungi Ngidi achieved 1 success by giving 24 runs. Batting for Delhi, KL Rahul played an inning of 92 runs in 52 balls. Apart from this, Pathum Nissanka scored 41 runs. In the end David Miller also remained unbeaten after scoring 41 runs.
