BCCI New Guideline: BCCI has implemented strict pitch protocol to prevent 'spying' and 'arbitrariness' on the field before the IPL. Under the new rules, teams will no longer be able to use each other's practice nets. Even throw-downs are prohibited. The board has made it clear that only fresh wickets will be given to every team. To keep the main ground safe, practice there has been completely locked four days before the match, which has increased the tension of the teams.

New Delhi. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has issued strict guidelines keeping in mind 'mind games' and safety even before the start of the fight on the field. Before the 19th season of IPL starting from March 28, BCCI has issued a 5-page guideline, in which the most surprising decision is that now no team will be able to practice on the nets used by its opposing team. BCCI has made it clear that if one team practices after another, then the other team will be given absolutely 'fresh nets'.

According to the guidelines of the Indian Cricket Board, the first team will not be allowed to use the nets of the second team (not even for throw-down). If a team ends its practice early, the other team cannot use their vacant 'range-hitting wicket'. The board is very strict regarding the preparations for the season. To save the main ground, BCCI has made a rule that no practice match or session will be organized on the main pitch till four days before the first home match of the season.

The duration of a practice match cannot exceed 3.5 hours
Prior permission will have to be taken from BCCI for the practice match and it will be held on the side wicket instead of the main pitch. The duration of a practice match cannot exceed 3.5 hours. From March 16, teams will be allotted two nets in the practice area and one net for range hitting on the main ground. BCCI has given priority to the 'home team' regarding schedule and practice slots. However, their request will also be considered keeping in mind the travel schedule of the visiting team and the previous day's match. If both teams want to practice at the same time and the dispute is not resolved, the BCCI will intervene. In such a situation, two separate slots of 2 hours each (like 6-8 pm and 8-10 pm) will be created, so that both the teams can get equal conditions.

Range hitting and equipment responsibility
The board has given instructions to prepare wickets at both ends of the main pitch for 'range hitting'. Grounds like Ahmedabad and Lucknow will have red or black clay wickets, where the home team will have the right to choose their preferred wicket for the first 90 minutes. The home franchise will be responsible for catering, medical and security during the practice session. The visiting team will have to arrange its own beverages.
