The most interesting part of this technique is the process called blanching phenomenon. When you press your finger on a hard surface, the skin at that place turns white for a few moments because the blood flow there reduces. The system recognizes this small change.
The cameras installed in the headset take pictures of the fingers and by understanding those pictures, Artificial Intelligence decides when and where you touched. In this way any surface becomes touch-sensitive.
Easy technology without extra hardware
The biggest feature of this new system is that it does not require any additional sensor or special device. It can also work with the normal cameras that are already present in many AR and MR headsets. This is why it can be easy to use.
More comfortable and accurate experience
During testing, people worked easily on surfaces like tables and walls and got a good experience. The special thing is that users can work by keeping their fingers on the surface, which reduces fatigue and makes typing more accurate.

In 2026, this research was presented at the IEEE Virtual Reality and 3D User Interfaces conference where it was highly appreciated.
