Bhuvneshwar Kumar 200 IPL Wickets in India Record: Indian fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar has become the first bowler to take 200 wickets in IPL matches while playing in India. He achieved this feat while taking three wickets in the IPL match against Gujarat Titans. Apart from this, Bhuvneshwar also became the first Indian pacer to take 350 wickets in T20 cricket.

Even though RCB did not win, Bhuvneshwar Kumar became the leader in the Purple Cap race with his amazing bowling. He took three wickets for 28 runs. With this, he became the first Indian fast bowler to touch the figure of 350 wickets in T20. Bhuvneshwar made another record. He has also become the first Indian to take 200 IPL wickets while playing in India.
New Delhi. RCB fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled brilliantly against Gujarat Titans. Even though the defending champion Royal Challengers Bangalore team did not succeed in winning this match, Bhuvi bowled economically and took three wickets for just 28 runs. With this performance, the Indian fast bowler recorded a special ‘double century’ in his name. Actually, he has become the first bowler to take 200 wickets in IPL while playing in India. Even Yuzvendra Chahal, who has taken the most wickets in IPL history, has not been able to make this record yet.
Yuzvendra Chahal’s name comes after Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the list of bowlers who have taken the most IPL wickets in India. Chahal has dismissed 186 batsmen after playing 154 matches in India. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has so far played IPL for three teams (Pune Warriors India, Sunrisers Hyderabad and RCB). He has also played 15 IPL matches for Hyderabad on three different grounds in UAE.
Bhuvneshwar also completed 350 wickets in T20 cricket. He has become the first Indian fast bowler to achieve this feat. Sai Sudarshan became his 350th victim in T20. Talking about Indian bowlers, only Yuzvendra Chahal has been able to take more wickets than Bhuvneshwar Kumar in T20 format. Bhuvneshwar made his debut against Pakistan in December 2012. He has taken 90 wickets in 87 T20 International matches for the Indian team. In IPL, he has taken 213 wickets in 199 matches. Apart from this, he has taken 44 wickets while playing 36 matches in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for his home team Uttar Pradesh.
At the forefront of the Purple Cap race
Big names like Jasprit Bumrah (347), Piyush Chawla (327) and Ravichandran Ashwin (317) are included in this list, which further increases the importance of this achievement of Bhuvneshwar. With three wickets in the same match, Bhuvneshwar has now reached the top in the race for the Purple Cap of IPL 2026. He has taken 17 wickets in 9 matches so far. Hyderabad’s Ishan Malinga (15 wickets) is at second place in this list, from whom Bhuvneshwar is now two wickets ahead.
