300 run record on debut match: When it comes to big scores or triple centuries in cricket, the first names that come to mind are great batsmen like Virender Sehwag, Sir Don Bradman, Chris Gayle or Brian Lara, but you will be surprised to know that the feat which the world’s great batsmen could not do in their entire career, was achieved by two batsmen in history in their very first match. This is the feat of 300 runs in the debut international match. Let us know who these two names are.

In the more than 149-year history of cricket, the record of scoring 300 or more runs in a debut test match is held by only two batsmen. The career of one of these players was so unfortunate that it ended after playing only 8 matches. Actually, these two names are Lawrence Roe and Tip Foster.

West Indies’ ace batsman Lawrence Rowe did something in his very first Test match which no one could do again till date. He started his career on 16 February 1972 against New Zealand in Kingston. This batsman scored 214 runs in the first innings of the match, while in the second innings he played an unbeaten inning of 100 runs. He scored a total of 314 runs in the match, which is also the record for the highest number of runs in a debut match.

Lawrence Roe is the only batsman in the world who scored centuries (a double century and a century) in both the innings of his debut match and scored a total of 314 runs in the match. However, even after such a tremendous debut, his career was limited to only 30 test matches. He has 2047 runs in his name with 7 centuries.

Even before Lawrence Roe, this feat was done by England’s Tip Foster. About 123 years ago, on 11 December 1903, he made his debut against Australia on the Sydney grounds. In this match, he scored a total of 306 runs with 287 runs in the first innings and 19 runs in the second innings. He became the first batsman in the world to score 300 runs in his debut match.

Foster played a marathon inning of 287 runs in his very first innings, which is still the highest score made by a batsman in an innings of his debut match. He added a total of 306 runs in the match. Foster was an excellent all-rounder who also played football for England.

Despite his explosive debut, Foster’s career was limited to only 8 matches. This was his only century score of the match. Four years after making his debut in 1903, Foster played his last match of his international career in 1907. He scored 602 runs in 8 matches.
