Wi-Fi Compensation: Many times people install Wi-Fi in their home, but due to technical fault, Wi-Fi does not work for many days and the Wi-Fi fee is also charged in full, due to which the user has to suffer loss. But now if your home’s Wi-Fi remains closed for several days due to technical fault, then now you will not have to bear the loss from your pocket. Telecom Regulatory of India has implemented new rules to improve the service and strengthen the rights of consumers. Under these rules, internet and telecom companies will have to pay compensation to customers in case of service disruption for a long time.
If there is a delay in repairing the fault then you will get compensation
According to the rules, if there is a technical fault in a fixed line or Wi-Fi connection and the company is not able to fix it within three days, then the customer will be entitled to compensation. In such a situation, the service providers will have to give relief to the customer according to the affected period. Postpaid customers will be given fare concessions, while prepaid customers’ connection validity will be extended. This means that the customer will get back the benefit for the time the service was not available.
You will get benefits even if the network remains closed for more than 24 hours
According to TRAI’s standards of mobile and internet services, if the network or service in any district remains disrupted for more than 24 hours, then the concerned company will have to compensate the customers. According to the rules, if the network remains closed for more than 12 hours on any day, it will be considered as a complete day. On this basis, fare discount will be given to postpaid users and extra validity will be given to prepaid customers. The company will have to give this benefit within a week of the network being restored.

Heavy fines will be imposed on companies
At the same time, more strict action will be taken against companies that do not follow service quality standards. TRAI has increased the amount of fine for violating quality standards. Under the new rules, a fine of Rs 1 lakh, Rs 2 lakh, Rs 5 lakh and Rs 10 lakh can be imposed on different types of violations. There is a provision of penalty of up to Rs 1 lakh per standard for not meeting the quality standards.
Network coverage will have to be shown on the website
To provide accurate information to consumers, mobile service providers will have to display 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G network coverage maps on their websites. With this, customers will be able to know which services are better available in their area. Apart from this, companies will also have to make public information related to their quality of service performance. So that the consumer can understand the actual status of the service.
