Let us tell you that banks say that many people missed important calls related to loan recovery and banking alerts because these numbers were declared spam on their phones or the calls were blocked. Now TRAI is not demanding to directly control these apps but wants to introduce a new rule.
How does Google’s Caller ID identify spam?
The Google Phone app available in Android phones also provides protection to its users from spam. This system identifies callers using public business directories, verified business information and user reports. If many people complain about a number, a spam warning starts appearing during incoming calls.
Google has also used AI based Scam Detection feature in some Android devices. It understands the conversation pattern during a call and when unusual activity is found, it tags that call as spell.
How to decide which call is spam
For information, let us tell you that Truecaller is a very popular caller ID app in the country today which identifies spam calls by collecting information from many different sources. Let us tell you that spam reports made by users, investigation of calling patterns, unusual call activity, continuous complaints against a number decide whether the call is spam or not.
The company says that no number is declared spam merely on the basis of user report. The system continuously analyzes the data and if the activity of a number becomes normal then its spam tag can also be removed.
Apart from this, verified companies can register their official numbers and if they accidentally get tagged as spam, they can request to withdraw it.
