Bangladesh host New Zealand Series during IPL: Echo of international cricket amidst the noise of IPL. While the giants from all over the world might be hitting fours and sixes in India, New Zealand and Bangladesh have blown the trumpet of their series in the midst of this 'great battle'. New Zealand will face Bangladesh in this white ball match starting from 17th April.

New Delhi. While on one hand cricket lovers around the world are engrossed in the excitement of IPL, on the other hand a surprising news has emerged from the international cricket calendar. Usually, international cricket comes to a halt during the two months of IPL because almost all the big players of the world are part of this mega league. But this year the tradition seems to be breaking. New Zealand and Bangladesh have decided to face each other amidst the glamor of IPL. When it is raining fours and sixes in India, at the same time a white ball series will be played with the Kiwi team on the soil of Bangladesh.
This series, to be held between April 17 and May 2, has become a topic of discussion in the cricket world. Historically, the ICC and other cricket boards do not schedule any major series during the IPL so as not to distract the audience. But this time there will be a clash of 3 ODI and 3 T20 matches between New Zealand (ICC ODI ranking 2, T20 International ranking 4) and Bangladesh (ODI ranking 10, T20 ranking 9).

Why is this series happening?
A major reason behind this strange timing is the absence of Bangladeshi players in the IPL. This time not a single player from Bangladesh is included in the IPL. Kolkata Knight Riders had initially signed star pacer Mustafizur Rahman, but he was released after some technical objections and board decisions. For this reason, the Bangladeshi team is using this time to gain international experience.

IPL and the shadow of elections
