Researchers at Yale University have created a new brain-computer interface (BCI), with the help of which people can play video games with the help of their brain activity. Using real-time functional MRI (fMRI), the team of researchers showed a demo in which the user can control the computer with his thoughts. Researchers say that brain activity follows established neural pathways. When the system is designed according to these pathways, it becomes easier to learn to use BCI. Once the BCI is aligned with the neural structure of the brain, the user quickly gets control of it. Tests showed that some participants took control of the BCI in less than an hour, and in many cases it happened even sooner. Whereas if it is not aligned according to the neural structure then it becomes difficult for the user to learn the controls.
