The purpose of these drones is to stop the attacker and keep the situation under control until the police arrive. It is being claimed that these drones can start action in just 15 seconds. In which schools will these drones be installed?
According to the report, these drones will be deployed in five schools in Georgia, three schools in Florida and one school in Colorado, USA. These have been prepared by Austin-based company Mithril Defense. The company says that this is the world’s first such system, which has been specifically designed to stop an active shooter.
Claims to reach attacker in 15 seconds
According to the company, if information is received about an attacker in a school, these drones can reach the spot within about 15 seconds. Its purpose is to gain time until the police and other security agencies arrive and help control the situation. These drones can be flown even from thousands of kilometers away. Speakerphone has also been installed in them, through which two-way conversation can be done.
How will these drones work?
For this, school teachers will be given a mobile app and a panic button in the classroom. As soon as information about any danger is received, teachers will be able to activate the drone through the app or panic button. According to the company, once fully charged, these drones can fly for about eight minutes and operate at 900 MHz frequency.
What did the company say?
The company says that its drones will already be ready on the charging pad in the school. If needed, the company’s team present in Austin will operate them remotely. According to the company’s statement, their team can control drones deployed in schools across America from a single operation center.
What will be special in these?
According to the company, these drones can fly at a speed of 30 to 50 miles per hour inside the school building. And their maximum speed outside can be up to 100 miles per hour. Several boxes containing six drones each will be installed at different places in the school campus. With this, the nearest drone can be immediately sent to the place where there is danger.

How will these drones stop the attacker?
According to the report, Mithril Defense co-founder and retired Navy SEAL Bill King said that these drones have been designed in such a way that they can distract the attacker. For this, drones will light bright strobe lights, play sirens, spray paper gel or if necessary, they can even collide with the attacker at a speed of about 60 miles per hour. Bill King says that once drones are after an attacker, it will be very difficult for him to escape from them.
This idea came from Ukraine war
The company’s Tactical Operations Director, Christoph Oborsky, who previously served as a team leader in the Austin Police Department’s SWAT unit, said that the idea for this technology came from the Ukraine War. According to him, this system was developed based on the way small drones were used during the war after Russia’s attack on Ukraine in February 2022.
