Toilet Blocked: In case of sudden toilet jam at home, adopt these easy home remedies, the hassle of calling a plumber will end.

How To Unblock A Toilet Without A Plunger: Toilet blockage is one of those problems at home which no one wants to face. But the truth is that this problem can happen to anyone at any time. Sometimes due to excessive use of toilet paper, sometimes due to accidental flushing of something which gets stuck in the pipe. Whatever the reason, it is important to fix the problem as soon as possible. The best thing is that there is no need to call a plumber every time. In most cases, toilet blockage can be removed with the help of some common items present in the house and the right method.

stop the flow of water first

If water is rising after flushing, then it is important to stop it first. For this, remove the lid of the toilet tank and press the rubber flapper present inside. This will stop more water from coming into the bowl. After this, close the shut-off valve located behind or below the toilet, so that the water supply stops completely. Now you can work on the problem without worrying about spilling water in the bathroom.

Open the jam with the help of plunger

If you have a plunger, half the problem ends here. This is considered to be the easiest and most effective way to remove toilet blockage. First dip the rubber part of the plunger in a little hot water, so that it becomes soft and can form a better seal. After this, apply it firmly on the toilet hole and press up and down 10 to 15 times. If the water starts going down slowly, then understand that the blockage is being removed. If necessary, repeat the same process again.

Don’t have a plunger? Try these home remedies

For minor blockage, using hot water and dishwashing liquid can prove to be very effective. Pour a good amount of liquid into the toilet and then add a bucket of hot water. Keep in mind that the water should not be boiling. Wait for about 20 to 30 minutes. Many times, just by doing this the jam gets loosened. Another method is using baking soda and white vinegar. Add one cup of baking soda and slowly pour two cups of vinegar over it. Foam will form for some time. After about half an hour add hot water and then flush and check.

When blockage becomes stubborn

If the problem persists, the help of tools like toilet auger or drain snake can be taken. It helps in reaching deep inside the pipe and removing the stuck object. Additionally, if necessary, an attempt can be made to loosen the blockage by straightening the metal coat hanger. However, while doing this, take special care not to damage the surface of the toilet.

When to call a plumber?

If the toilet keeps getting clogged repeatedly or doesn’t get clogged at all despite best efforts, it could be a sign of a deeper problem with the plumbing or drainage system. In such a situation, it is wise to take expert help.
