This has happened for the first time… Vaibhav Suryavanshi played maiden over for the first time in IPL, a big record in the name of Mohsin Khan.

New Delhi. Last week was a bit of ups and downs for Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the young sensation who spits fire from his bat. The batsman, who had spoiled the line-length of big bowlers with his aggressive batting, now seems to be slowing down a bit. In the match played against Lucknow Super Giants, an unwanted record was registered in Vaibhav’s name, which his fans had not imagined. Lucknow Super Giants fast bowler Mohsin Khan did what the great bowlers of this league could not do till now. He not only kept Vaibhav Suryavanshi tied, but also forced him to play the first maiden over of this season.

This was the 14th match of Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s IPL career and before this he had never played a maiden over in this league. Vaibhav looked completely helpless in front of Mohsin Khan’s precise line and length. Vaibhav could not score a single run on the first five balls of the over and the pressure on him was clearly visible. The result of this pressure was that while trying to play a big shot on the last ball of the over, he hit the ball in the air and was caught out by Digvesh Rathi.

The rhythm was shattered after a great start
At the beginning of the match it did not seem at all that Vaibhav would struggle so much. He started the innings by hitting two brilliant fours against Prince Yadav. The audience present in the stadium felt that they will get to see Suryavanshi’s ‘show’ again today. But after those two fours, Vaibhav seemed to calm down. He did not score a single run on the next 9 balls and eventually returned to the pavilion after scoring just 8 runs on 11 balls.

Is the shine fading?
The strike rate at which Vaibhav Suryavanshi batted in the first four matches of IPL 2026 was incredible. But the statistics of the last three matches are pointing towards his declining form. Vaibhav could not even open his account against Sunrisers Hyderabad and was out on the very first ball, whereas against Kolkata Knight Riders he played an inning of 46 runs, but the strike rate was less than 200, which was contrary to his style of playing. Fifteen year old Vaibhav scored 8 runs in 11 balls against Lucknow Super Giants and played the first maiden over of his career.

Rajasthan Royals, after being invited to bat first in the IPL T20 match, scored 159 runs for six wickets against Lucknow Super Giants. Ravindra Jadeja scored the highest unbeaten 43 runs for Royals. Mohammed Shami, Prince Yadav and Mohsin Khan took two wickets each for Super Giants.
