- AI reduces debugging time by 50%, plays a role in repetitive tasks.
Artificial Intelligence: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is no longer limited to just chatbots or content creation. Its role is increasing rapidly in many fields like education, health, finance and technology. Now a new report by AI company Anthropic has started a new debate regarding jobs related to software engineering and coding. According to the report, AI agents are seen performing at par with human software engineers in many real projects.
AI is equaling engineers in coding tasks
Anthropic analyzed approximately 4 lakh sessions of Claude Code between October 2025 and April 2026. In this study, an attempt was made to understand how people are working with AI, what tasks are being done and what is the success rate in them.
The most surprising result of the report was that AI agents are achieving the same success as professional software engineers in many coding tasks. The interesting thing is that even people without technical background are able to complete such programming tasks with the help of AI, which earlier only experienced developers could do easily.
AI is doing all the work
According to the report, a new division of work has emerged between humans and AI. In most cases, people decide what to build while AI decides how to build it.
That is, humans are doing the work of planning, target and direction of the project, while AI is handling the responsibilities like writing code, running commands, fixing bugs and technical work. Due to this, the development process is becoming much faster than before.
Debugging time halved
The study also revealed that with the use of AI tools, the time taken to fix software defects has reduced significantly. According to Anthropic data, the share of sessions related to debugging dropped by almost 50 percent.
In simple language, AI is now playing a big role not only in writing code but also in identifying mistakes and correcting them. Due to this, developers are saving time and projects are being completed quickly.
Are coding jobs under threat?
The report does not say that AI is going to completely replace human programmers. However, it definitely indicates that the role of AI in everyday and repetitive coding tasks is continuously increasing.
