Akshar Patel, the hero of the victory in the first ODI against England, said that in the T20 series he had tried to hit the ball hard, due to which he could not get success. In the first ODI, Akshar had put England on the backfoot by taking 4 wickets in bowling along with a match-winning innings in batting.

New Delhi: Akshar Patel was the hero of Team India’s victory in the first match of the three-match ODI series against England. After taking 4 wickets in bowling, Akshar played an excellent half-century in batting in the middle order for Team India. Before the ODI series, Akshar Patel was a flop for Team India in T20. In such a situation, after the victory in the first ODI, he told what mistake he had made in the T20 series.
Akshar Patel admitted that during the T20 series, he gave priority to hitting the ball hard, whereas in ODIs he focused more on timing. Akshar gave a brilliant all-round performance, taking four wickets in the first 9.5 overs and then scored unbeaten 57 runs in 52 balls which included five fours and a six.
Team India registered victory before 28 balls
India achieved the target of 259 runs by four wickets and with 28 balls remaining, in which captain Shubman Gill (80) and Washington Sundar (52) also played important roles. Akshar, who was chosen the best player of the match, told Geostar, “It was very important for me to perform like this. I was trying continuously. As far as my mindset is concerned, I had to stay focused instead of thinking that everything will happen on its own.
He said, “I had to believe in myself and was implementing my strategy well. I think I was trying to hit the ball too hard in the T20 matches.” Akshar said, “When you go to bat in the death overs, you have no option but to hit big shots, but I was losing my rhythm a bit.”
Akshar Patel flopped badly in the T20 series.
Axar Patel was able to score only 19 runs in the T20 series against England. He changed his strategy in ODI and focused on hitting shots with right timing. He said, “I was not trying to hit the ball too hard because I knew I had time.” I can play some balls comfortably. I was paying attention to my timing. On this kind of wicket, when you understand the conditions well, then you can score runs.
Akshar said, “On this kind of wicket, I think it was very important to spend some time at the crease. On such wickets, you cannot play shots on the balls bouncing as soon as they arrive. You have to give yourself some time. Only after that you can play your shots.
