Sunil Narine had bowled a super over maiden in 2014, it is impossible to break this record.

New Delhi. The match between Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals at Arun Jaitley Stadium went into Super Over and in the end Shubman Gill managed to defeat Axar Patel’s team by 1 run. If there was a super over, both the teams would look for the bowler of their team who is adept at throwing dot balls. Today the story of one such bowler came to mind who had bowled a super over of 6 dot balls out of 6.

Whenever “Super Over” is mentioned in the history of cricket, the picture of rain of sixes and breath-taking thrill comes before the eyes. But can you imagine that in this most aggressive format of T20, no bowler gives even a single run in the Super Over? West Indies’ legendary spinner Sunil Narine had made this impossible possible.

Sunil Narine’s historic ‘Maiden’ Super Over

This historic feat happened on 17 July 2014 during the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). The match between Guyana Amazon Warriors and Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel ended in a draw, after which the victory had to be decided by a super over. Batting first, Guyana set a target of 12 runs for Red Steel to win in the Super Over. On behalf of Guyana, the captain handed the ball to ‘mystery spinner’ Sunil Narine.
Aggressive batsman Nicholas Puran was on strike, who batted brilliantly in the main innings of the match.

The thrill of each ball of the over:
First ball: Narine trapped Puran in his spin, the batsman was beaten (0 runs). Second ball: Once again Puran tried to play a big shot, but there was no contact between the ball and the bat (0 runs). Third ball: Puran looked helpless in front of Narine’s precise line-length. (0 runs) Fourth ball: Fourth consecutive dot ball. Now the pressure had completely overwhelmed Puran. (0 Run) Fifth ball: Under pressure, Puran played a shot in the air and was caught out by Martin Guptill at long off. Sixth ball: New batsman Ross Taylor came to the crease. They needed 12 runs to win, but Narine beat them too and finished the over maiden. (0 runs)

an unbreakable record

Sunil Narine is the only bowler in T20 cricket history who has bowled a super over maiden. This record is still seen as a “miracle” in the cricket world, because in the Super Over, where the bowlers struggle to stop the runs, Narine did not even allow the opposition batsmen to open the account.
