New Delhi. The 'central contract' player of BCCI, the world's richest cricket board, who hits long sixes on the field, sleeps quietly with his face hidden on the upper berth of the train. The only reason behind this is his wild yearning to meet his family. Team India's star all-rounder Shivam Dubey recently revealed that night, when the entire country was celebrating, he was taking a train from Ahmedabad to Mumbai as an 'ordinary traveller'. While the entire team was preparing for the chartered flight and grand welcome after the title win of T20 World Cup 2026, something else was going on in Shivam's mind. During an event he expressed his feelings.
Shivam Dubey said at the event, 'I was very anxious to go home and meet my children and my father. To be honest, I couldn't wait any longer. It was only because of this yearning that I decided to go home early in the morning instead of waiting for the flight with the team.

The journey of 3rd AC and the struggle to hide his identity
It is almost impossible for a high-profile cricketer to travel publicly in India. But the desire to meet his father and children was so great that Dubey took the risk. He caught the 5:10 am Ahmedabad-Mumbai train with his wife and a friend. To avoid the crowd he took a 3rd AC ticket. To hide his identity, Dubey put a mask on his face. Wore a cap on his head. Wore a T-shirt with full sleeves so that no one could identify him by the tattoo or body shape. He remained sitting in his car at the station until it was time for the train to leave.
When Shivam Dubey narrowly escaped
During the entire journey, Shivam Dubey remained lying on the upper berth of the train so that no one could see him. But a moment came when he was about to be caught. When the TTE (TC) who came to check the ticket looked towards his berth, he felt a little suspicious. He asked, 'Shivam Dubey?' Who is he? Is there any cricketer? At that time, Dubey's wife Anjum Khan, showing cleverness, immediately replied, 'No-no, where will he come here from?' This statement of his wife reassured the TTE and this star of Indian cricket reached his home safely like a common citizen.
