A daughter from a small village in Madhya Pradesh has done something which will bring tears to everyone’s eyes and awaken hope in the heart. Coming out of a life full of poverty, hunger, beatings and insults, she passed a tough exam and became an officer. This is the story of Savita Pradhan, a woman who chose to fight the circumstances instead of accepting defeat.
Savita’s childhood was very ordinary. Studying in government school, lack of money and everyday problems were his world. When he got good marks in 10th, his family felt proud and he got admission in a school in another town. But the bus to reach there was irregular and even the fare of Rs 2 was costly at times. Savita kept walking to school for several days. His passion for studying did not let him get tired.
Direction of life changed after marriage
Savita was married at an early age to an affluent family. She was assured that she would be able to study further, but this promise soon proved to be a lie. After marriage her life became like a prison. The behavior of her husband and in-laws was inhuman. He was not even given a full meal.
Savita tells that many times she used to eat rotis in the bathroom, hiding them in her clothes, so that no one would see. Fighting on small issues, working day and night and insulting all this had become his daily routine.
Holding the hands of two sons, towards a new life
While leaving her husband’s house, Savita had very little luggage, but was full of courage. Holding the hands of her two young sons, she reached a relative’s house. A place to stay was found, but the path ahead was unclear. To earn her living, she started working in a nearby beauty parlor. Work all day, taking care of children in the evening. Meanwhile, only one thing kept going on in his mind, “I have to make a better life for my children.”

Studies started again along with raising children
During these difficult days, Savita resumed her studies. Decided to complete the studies that I had missed due to marriage. Between household and work responsibilities, she would sit with books open late at night. This was the time when he started preparing for Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission. This examination is considered among the most difficult examinations in the state. No coaching, no guidance, no free time, yet Savita did not give up.
The hard work paid off
After continuous hard work, Savita gave this examination in the year 2005 and passed it. This was a big achievement in itself. But his goal was even further than this. He prepared again and took the exam again in 2006. This time he secured 83rd rank in the entire state. This success got him a place in Madhya Pradesh Administrative Service.
