How To Keep Snakes Away In Monsoon: While the monsoon season brings greenery and coolness, the incidents of snakes being seen around houses also increase during this time. Due to continuous rain, the holes and underground spaces get filled with water, due to which the snakes go out in search of safe and dry place. This is the reason why many times they reach the house, garden, balcony or terrace. Experts say that snakes do not come into houses to attack humans, but they are attracted by food, water and a safe place to hide. In such a situation, this danger can be reduced to a great extent by adopting some easy precautions.
Do not allow waste items to accumulate in your home and balcony.
During the rainy season, old pots, bricks, wood, pipes, cardboard boxes and dry leaves often get accumulated on the terrace, balcony or garden of the house. All these places can become safe places to hide for snakes. Therefore, clean them from time to time and remove things which are not needed. If you have planted plants on the balcony or terrace, then maintain cleanliness around them and do not allow grass or vines to grow excessively.

Even small holes and cracks can become an entry point for snakes into the house. Check places like gaps under doors, cracks in walls, open spaces around pipelines, drainage outlets and ventilation. Cut tree branches and vines on time
If there are tree branches reaching near the balcony or terrace of your house or there are dense vines spread on the walls, then keep cutting them from time to time. Many species of snakes can climb up rough surfaces, pipes, tree branches and vines. Therefore, try that no branch or vine touches the railing or wall of the house.
Do not allow rats and other pests to breed around the house
According to experts, snakes come more to places where they can easily get food. If the number of rats, frogs or big insects around the house is high then the chances of snakes coming also increases. Do not leave pet food out in the open, keep dustbins covered, remove fallen fruits immediately and if there is a rat problem, solve it in time. When food sources are less, snakes will also be less attracted to that place.
Be careful about lighting too
The bright white light burning throughout the night attracts a large number of insects. After this, frogs and other small creatures reach there and snakes may also follow them. In such a situation, use of yellow LED or motion sensor light for outside lighting is considered a better option. This also provides light when needed and also reduces the movement of insects throughout the night.
Do not rely completely on home remedies
Often people consider garlic, neem leaves, clove oil, tobacco or naphthalene tablets as effective ways to drive away snakes. However, scientific evidence regarding their effects is very limited. Therefore, instead of considering them as the main safety measure, use them only as an additional precaution. If you keep naphthalene tablets, keep them away from children, pets and food items.
