Shubman Gill shrugs off T20 World Cup snub: Shubman Gill said that he does not need to prove anything in the upcoming IPL after being dropped from the Indian team ahead of the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup. Gill was India's vice-captain in the ODIs, but was dropped from the team to make way for Sanju Samson at the top of the order. India won the title for a record third time.

Shubman Gill is the captain of India's Test and ODI teams and is also leading Gujarat Titans in IPL. Gill is one of the batsmen who has consistently scored runs in the IPL. He had scored 650 runs in the last season, 426 runs before that and 890 runs in 2023. He said, 'I have to do what I have been doing for the last four years. The team will have to perform well continuously. If we keep doing this, we can win the trophy again.
Shubman Gill took over the captaincy from Hardik Pandya from the 2024 season. Gujarat Titans had earned name by winning the trophy since their debut in IPL in 2022.
