Shreyas Iyer put MS Dhoni toss record in danger: As soon as Shreyas Iyer won the toss in the 5th and last T20 match of the series against England at the Rose Bowl, he equaled a record of veteran Indian captain MS Dhoni. In fact, he has become the Indian captain who has won the most number of toss consecutively in T20 International matches. Dhoni had won the toss in 7 consecutive matches.

New Delhi. Even though Shreyas Iyer’s luck is not favoring him in the results of the match, but in the matter of toss, the luck of this Indian captain is playing well. Ever since Iyer took command of the Indian T20 team, he has not lost the toss even once. Iyer’s streak of winning the toss continued in the fifth and final T20 of the series against England. With this he equaled a great record of MS Dhoni. In fact, Iyer, along with Dhoni, has become the Indian captain to win the toss in most consecutive T20 matches.
Iyer one step away from breaking Dhoni’s record
Dhoni won the toss while captaining India in 7 consecutive T20 matches. Iyer has also reached their level by winning the toss in the same number of consecutive matches. The difference is that Iyer has achieved this feat as soon as he took over the captaincy. Iyer is captaining the T20 team for the two T20 match series on the Ireland tour. After winning the toss in both those matches, this trend continued in the entire 5-match series against England. If Iyer is successful in winning the toss in Team India’s next T20 match, then he will leave Dhoni behind and become the captain for India who has won the most number of toss consecutively in this format.

Shreyas Iyer has become only the second captain in the world to win the toss consecutively in his first seven matches of captaincy in T20 International history. Before him, this feat was accomplished only by Gregory Taylor of Bahamas. Iyer is just one step away from making the world record of winning the toss in most consecutive T20 matches while starting as captain.
