New Delhi: Indian cricket team’s star player Shreyas Iyer is currently captaining Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League. Punjab Kings’ last match was against Kolkata Knight Riders which was canceled due to rain. After this, Shreyas’s sister Shrestha Iyer shared a funny post about KKR on social media, after which she started receiving threatening messages. Shrestha posted a video on his Instagram in which he jokingly said that Punjab gifted a point to its opponents. In the video he said, “Sadde Punjabiyo da dil wadda hunda ai. Lo, ditte ek point.”

However, now Shrestha has deleted this video. On Thursday, while clarifying the post, Shrestha said that her video was misunderstood and she was saddened that she received not only negativity but also threatening messages. He wrote on Instagram, ‘I have removed my recent video because it seems some people misunderstood it. My intention was just to make a light joke, but I understand that not everyone takes it that way, but it is quite sad to receive threatening messages. “I never did anything like this to harm anyone.”

Shrestha appealed not to spread hatred

She further wrote, “I am removing this video not because I did anything wrong, but because I respect my brother and his team and do not want this space to be filled with negativity. Let’s show a little more understanding and kindness to each other.” Earlier he had clarified that the video was not against KKR. She said in another video, “Friends, I don’t understand why so much hatred is being spread. This is just a game. Videos are made just for fun and I am here to support my brother. I will continue to do so. No hatred for any team. This is just a game. Everyone should take it sportingly.”

She further said, “I understand that there is anger. I did not make fun of anyone. This was my way of celebrating and I will continue to do so. All I want to say is that there is no hatred for anyone, only love. This is a game, everyone should have fun. No matter what, there should be rivalry. There was no personal attack. Just relax. Keep calm, guys.”
