Sawan 2026 Fast Recipes: The month of Sawan is considered a special time of worship and devotion of Lord Shiva. This time Sawan is starting from 30th July and will continue till 28th August. During this time, a large number of devotees observe fast on Sawan Monday and follow satvik food. Garlic, onion, non-veg and common grains are usually avoided during the fast. Buckwheat Crispy Puri
During the Sawan fast, Kuttu ki Puri is made in almost every house. Soft dough is prepared by mixing boiled potatoes in buckwheat flour, due to which the puri becomes crunchy from outside and soft from inside when fried. It can be served with curd potatoes, curd or fruit vegetable.
Sabudana Khichdi
Sabudana Khichdi is considered one of the most popular dishes of fasting. In this, roasted peanut powder, boiled potatoes, cumin seeds, green chillies and ghee are mixed in soaked sago. Finally, its taste is further enhanced by adding lemon juice and green coriander. Along with filling the stomach, it also gives energy for a long time.
Makhana Kheer
If you feel like eating sweets, then Makhana Kheer can be a good option during the Saavan fast. Roasted makhanas are cooked in milk on low flame and sugar, cardamom and dry fruits are added to it. In many homes it is also served as Prasad after offering it to Lord Shiva.

Fruity Dosa and Sama Vada
If you want to make something different during the fast, then you can make Farali Dosa prepared from Sama and Rajgir flour. It is prepared with sour buttermilk, ginger and green chillies and served with peanut curd chutney.
