Saudi vs India: How much salary do drivers get in Saudi Arabia, how much more is it than India?

Saudi vs India: The comparison between Saudi Arabia and India is not limited only to salary, but there is also a lot of difference on the basis of population, development level and employment opportunities. While India’s population is around 140 crore (1.4 billion), Saudi Arabia’s population is around 3.5 to 3.6 crore. That means the population of India is many times more than that of Saudi Arabia. If we talk about the scale of development i.e. HDI (Human Development Index), then Saudi Arabia’s HDI is around 0.87, which comes in the category of High Human Development, whereas India’s HDI is around 0.64, which is counted in Medium Human Development. On this basis, Saudi Arabia is considered a more developed country than India.

Why is Saudi Arabia preferred for employment?

Even from the employment point of view, Saudi Arabia has been a big center for Indians. According to estimates, more than 20 to 25 lakh Indians are working in Saudi Arabia. Every year thousands of people go there in search of jobs, which include drivers, laborers, technicians and other workers. Also, due to better earnings and facilities, Saudi Arabia has remained the first choice of Indian workers for a long time.

Driver salary and facilities in Saudi Arabia

Now if we talk about driver’s salary, a normal driver in Saudi Arabia gets around 1500 to 3000 Saudi Riyal (SAR) per month, which is equivalent to around Rs 33,000 to 66,000 in Indian Rupees. Depending on experience and work, this salary can reach up to 4000 SAR i.e. around Rs 88,000. The special thing is that they also provide accommodation, food and medical facilities, due to which expenses are reduced and savings can be increased.

Driver salary situation in India

If we talk about driver’s salary in India, it largely depends on the city and work. In small cities, drivers get Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000, while in big cities it ranges between Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000. Some cab drivers or private drivers can earn more than this, but they have to bear the fuel, vehicle maintenance and other expenses themselves.

Comparison between India and Saudi Arabia

If we make a direct comparison, the driver’s salary in Saudi Arabia is about 2 to 3 times more than that in India. But this difference is not limited to salary only. In fact, in Saudi, savings are also high due to availability of basic needs like accommodation and food, whereas in India, despite low salaries, the cost of living, especially in small cities, is low.
