MacBook Neo has iPhone chipset
Apple has provided A18 Pro chipset with iPhone 16 Pro in MacBook Neo. The only difference between these two chipsets is the GPU configuration. The chipset of 16 Pro comes with a 6-core GPU, while the chipset of Neo has a 5-core GPU. The thing to note is that Apple does not make a separate chipset for Neo. In this, the company uses those chipsets of 16 Pro, one GPU of which got damaged during manufacturing, while the other five are working properly. Such chipsets are called binned chips. Instead of wasting them, Apple has used them in its cheapest laptop.
Chipsets are falling short in front of the demand for MacBook Neo
According to media reports, Apple may be short of binned A18 Pro chipsets in view of the high demand for MacBook Neo. If this happens, Apple will have to pay higher prices to its supplier TSMC to make new chipsets for Neo, which will increase the company’s costs and may also affect customers.
MacBook Neo has been brought to compete with Windows laptops
Apple has launched MacBook Neo to compete with Windows laptops. Talking about its features, it has a 13-inch liquid retina display, which supports brightness of 500 nits. With the same chipset as the iPhone, Apple claims that it provides 50 percent faster performance than many laptops with Intel Core Ultra 5. It has a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, dual microphones and dual side speakers, which support Spatial and Dolby Atmos. It also has Apple’s Magic Keyboard, large multitouch trackpad and TouchID.
