Piyush Goyal on Deepfake Video: These days, a video is going viral on social media, in which Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal is allegedly shown giving a controversial statement. However, the Union Minister has described this video as completely fake and a deepfake created with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI). He said that an attempt has been made to mislead people by tampering with his original statement. A complaint has been lodged with the police in this matter and an FIR has also been registered. Union Minister Piyush Goyal said on social media platform He says that its purpose is to spread wrong information among the people and mislead them. He said that such misleading material also harms democratic dialogue.
Piyush Goyal said that he has lodged a police complaint in this matter. According to him, FIR number 123/26 was registered at Chanakyapuri Police Station, New Delhi on July 25, 2026 at 4:35 am. He clearly said that strict legal action will be taken against all those who make this fake video, spread it on social media or deliberately promote it.
PIB also called the video fake
The Fact Check Unit of Press Information Bureau (PIB) has also declared the viral video completely fake. According to PIB, AI generated videos of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Piyush Goyal are being shared on social media with the aim of spreading misinformation. The unit says that both audio and visuals have been tampered with in these videos. PIB also said that these videos are being promoted on social media by handles associated with Pakistani propaganda networks. In these videos, Prime Minister Modi’s statement on paper leak and Piyush Goyal’s conversation with the media outside Parliament were digitally changed and presented in a different context.

What is Deepfake and why is it dangerous?
Deepfake is a technology of AI, with the help of which fake video or audio is created by copying a person’s face, voice and gestures. Such videos may seem very real, so many people believe them without checking. It can also be used for spreading misinformation, political propaganda, cyber fraud and misleading people.
How to identify deepfake videos?
1. Pay attention to face and body language – Many times the blinking of eyes, lip movements and facial lighting appear abnormal in deepfake videos. The blurriness or expressions on the sides of the face also do not look real.
2. Check voice and lip-sync – If the lip movements and voice in the video do not match each other or the voice seems overly robotic or strange, then it could be a sign of a deepfake.
3. Be sure to check the source of the video – Before trusting or sharing any viral video, check whether it has come from an official account or not, if necessary, verify with Google or reverse image search.
4. Take help of AI detection tools – AI detection tools available online can help identify fake content by examining editing, metadata, and pixel patterns in videos and images. However, their results are not always 100 percent accurate.
