PhonePe New Rule: Nowadays, people often use digital payments to make payments, which include apps like PhonePe and Paytm. Many people also use Wallet (Phonepe Wallet) on PhonePe, while many people do not use it. Now big news has come out regarding this. Actually, digital payment platform PhonePe has implemented a new rule regarding its wallet, under which maintenance fees will now be charged on wallets which have not been used for a long time.
According to the company, if a user does not make any payment from the phone wallet for 365 days, then his wallet will be considered inactive and a fee of Rs 100 may be charged every quarter. PhonePe says that this fee has been taken for maintenance of wallet, platform updates, security and technical services. After this decision of phone pay, people also expressed their displeasure. Many people say that they use UPI directly for payment and do not use wallet, in such a situation it is not fair to impose fees on them.
When will the wallet be considered active?
According to the company, only financial transactions done through PhonePe Wallet will be considered as wallet activity. If no transaction is done through the wallet in 365 days then the wallet will fall into inactive category. The wallet will not be considered active just by opening the app on the phone, making payment through UPI, mobile recharge, bill payment, loan insurance or using other services. The wallet will not be considered active even after updating KYC.
How will the fee of Rs 100 be deducted?
The phone will first warn the user by sending notifications several times for 15 days. During this period, if the user does any transaction from the wallet, the wallet will be activated again and no fees will be charged. But if there is no activity within the stipulated time, the company will deduct a quarterly maintenance fee of Rs 100 from the wallet balance. If the balance in the wallet is less than Rs 100, the entire available amount will be deducted and the balance will become zero. The company has made it clear that the wallet balance will never be negative.

Why do users keep getting angry?
After the information about the new rule came out, many users raised questions on social media. Some people say that most of the people make UPI payment directly from bank account instead of phone wallet. In such a situation, it is not right to charge fees while the wallet is active. At the same time, some users called it a charge for a facility which they do not even use. At the same time, let us tell you that such fees are nothing in the digital wallet industry. Earlier, MobiKwik has also announced to impose maintenance charge on inactive wallets. Airtel Payments Bank had also earlier introduced maintenance fees for inactive wallets, which was later changed to an annual maintenance charge model.
