However, Virat now plays only in ODIs. He has retired from Test and T20, but he has played countless memorable innings in both these formats, one of which also includes his historic innings against Australia in the 2016 T20 World Cup.

On this day, March 27, 2016, Virat Kohli single-handedly led Team India to victory by playing an unbeaten inning of 82 runs in 51 balls against Australia. In the history of T20, fans might have seen such an innings only once or twice, when the team's defeat is certain but one player stands alone like a mountain in front of the opponent.

Virat Kohli came to bat at number three in the match, when India had lost 1 wicket for 23 runs in the fourth over. Australia had completely controlled the match with tight bowling. Except Virat, all the batsmen of Team India were seen struggling. There came a time in the match when India gave four wickets at the score of 94 runs in 14 overs. Team India had scored 67 runs in the remaining 6 overs. Australia had given India a target of 161 runs.

Kohli's innings was also very sluggish till the 14th over. He was able to score only 35 runs in 30 balls, but after he understood the pitch well, Chasemaster changed his gear. Then what happened, Virat Kohli scored the next 47 runs in just 21 balls, which included seven fours and one six. Seeing this inning of his, the Australian bowlers were completely stunned, because in the last overs, Virat Kohli turned the tables.
