Anthropic Privacy Policy: To use AI, you may even need to show your passport. We are not doing this, rather American AI company Anthropic has written in its new policy. The company has brought a new privacy policy, in which strict measures have been made to verify the identity of the user. The new policy will be applicable only for users using consumer accounts i.e. Claude Free, Pro and Max plans. Commercial users have not yet been brought under this policy.
Biometric data may have to be given for verification
According to Anthropic’s new AI policy, in some situations the user may be asked to prove their age and identity. For this, the user will have to provide government documents like selfie or video, passport and driving license. Apart from this, creation of facial geometry template has also been mentioned in the policy. This policy will come into effect from July 8.
When will verification be required?
Anthropic says that when a user challenges the restrictions imposed on his account, verification may be required. Apart from this, this information can also be used to enforce the rules of the platform, investigate fraud, issues related to security concerns and prevent misuse of AI services. Let us tell you that to access Anthropic’s Claude model, the user must already be 18 years of age. In the same year, due to legal obligation, the company had started age-verification system at many places. Anthropic said that the verification process is handled by an ID verification company named Persona. When users want to access a particular feature, they may have to go through a verification process.
Questions are being raised regarding privacy
Questions are being raised on Anthropic since its updated privacy policy was introduced. Especially the most concern is being expressed on user privacy and biometric data collection. Privacy experts have been continuously expressing concern that the identity database can become the target of cyber criminals and this also raises questions about the safety of the users. On the other hand, Anthropic has said in its defense that this policy has not been brought as an identity checking program for all users. This has been brought as a part of the process of reviewing accounts involved in suspicious activities.
