There will be no impact on Gmail
Google has made it clear that turning on package tracking in Wallet will not affect your emails in Gmail. This feature is limited to giving you updates only by getting information from the receipt attached to the parcel. Apart from this, this feature will not have any effect on your other mails.
There will be no need for delivery app

Now users will be able to do this work directly in Google Wallet.
